New Faculty Support Center Now Available!

Betsy Price, Director for the Center for Teaching & Learning shares the following message with us:

We have created a Faculty Support Center in the Center for Teaching and Learning.  By innovative construction and conniving we have created a center with two PC's, 4 iBooks and a hospitality center for faculty to use at any time.

The computers will be loaded with software faculty can use to create interactive textbooks, video lectures and activities, and build interactive electronic materials and tools. We will provide pedagogical assistance as well as technical. Full time faculty and contingent faculty can come at any time to  learn how to blend learning theory, instructional design and navigation design to improve learning for blended, ground and online courses.

It is not just a technology center; we will help faculty with assessments, hands on learning, case studies and experiential learning.

Convocation week spring 2014 we will have a grand opening.  We still have some final touches to do, but if you have faculty that need support now, direct them to the center.

We are at LHSB 1.704 in the corner across from the Healing Gardens. Look for an overturned pot, restfully spitting out water. Our hours will change next semester to provide evening and Saturday real person assistance.

We anticipate that this Support Center will ease faculty into teaching from one campus to multiple campuses.  Please support and direct faculty to our center.

The office hours of the CTL will be Monday Noon to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  he first that third Saturday we will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. However, faculty will be able to contact Campus Security at any time to be let in.

Please let your lecturers and adjuncts who do not have office know about this resource.

Please call me if you have any questions: (956) 882-7334

Welcome to the TLI Blog Page

This site is being created to provide information to TLI faculty as we transition through consolidation, program development, and NCATE initiatives. There is much work to be done and much that gets done that we never hear about.

Communication between faculty members should occur. Unfortunately, many of us are extremely busy and need something to make us look and read. The blog is set up so that it send an e-mail when information is posted. It can also provide a forum to discuss issues that pertain to faculty and a collection site for ideas posted for students.

Help me make this site useful to disseminate information. The blog will be public and currently has both faculty and student sections. Other pages will be added as recommendations are made. If you have an idea worth sharing, let me know. If you would like to provide posts to this site, please send me an e-mail (reynaldo.ramirez@utb.edu).
